--quoth George Bush in a recent speech. Really. Think how many who should be dangling from ropes think that. Not that they must have been victims of mass psychosis, but, rather, that they were exceptionally clear-headed about what they had to do (oppose communism), and being galvanized, did it. Coming from a man whom the most charitable could scarcely not deem stupid--renowned for his vacuous ignorance about everything--this has the ring of profound truth. Perhaps we've misunderestimated him.
