But  fraudulence was, so to speak, in the air, when Father Sigmund was smoking himself into terminal throat and tongue cancer: Mme. Blavatsky and Aleister Crowley were amusing, basically harmless frauds; Rudolf Steiner was a meaner, viler, harm-doing and harm-intending, criminal sort of fraud--like Freud, but infinitesimally smaller potatoes.
